Reflections in a Pond Tutorial
. DOWNLOAD- you will find the whole Almathera filter set. Just unzip it into a folder you make in your plugins folder called Almathera then you will know where to find it at if you ever need to send it to a friend or want to get rid of it. . 1) Open a new image 120X500 transparent then minimize it. 2) Now open the image you want to work with, it can be a tube or graphic.
3) Now copy the tube/graphic that your working with, then go to Image + plugins + Almathera + A Puddle... Use these settings for now. Reflection = 100 Displacement = between 7 and 10 (on this one I used 10) Lighting strength = 45 perspective = 100 scale = 30
As you can see she has lost her feet and moved down on the image. .4) Now copy the new image then click on the minimized 300X300 image and open it up, Then past the puddle image on to it and set it near the bottom. ( when I copy an Image I always copy it as A new layer by using Ctrl + L ).
5) Now click on the original tube/graphic and copy it, Then past it onto the 120X500 image. Align it with the puddle image. ( when I copy an Image I always copy it as A new layer by using Ctrl + L ). Note: some times you need to resize the image to make it match the new puddle sized one to do this I use the deformation tool . Note #2: if your image is too tall you might need to open a new blank image with a height the size you need to fit your image, double the height of the tube/graphic your using. In this case I doubled the size of the tube in height. I also used the deformation tool to set and Align the original image/tube. 6) Now we can give the background some color, so go to the layers button and click it to open the layers pallet . Now click the layer #1 button to activate it. 7) Now you can do a number of things to get a good looking background I like a sky look so I use Rayflect + fourseasons Now to get it to look like Mine you need to select only half of the new image layer one and fill it it any color then go to rayflect + fourseasons then add a new cloud layer then click on its settings and drag the oreantation slider all the way down to the bottom then change the cloud color and ground color to two different shades of green and apply. Then copy the selected sky image then deselect the area, then paste as new layer, then image + flip, then drag the new flipped image down to align with the bottom of the image. Note: you might need to move the puddle layer over a little to get at the flipped image, just move it back into place when your done setting the flipped image. Now you can do what ever you want to do this is just what I like. Add a pattern or just a plan color it will puddle under the puddle part all by its self. Frame it if you want. Below are a couple different examples. Please do not remove any of the marks that mark it as mine. Thank you
. Yes the mirror was done using the puddle effect.
